Acceptable Usage policy

The Chesterfield High School VLE and website encourages users to make effective use of the information provided within it. Such use should always be lawful and appropriate.It should not compromise the Chesterfield High School VLE and website’s information and systems nor have the potential to damage the Chesterfield High School reputation. Please read this policy carefully as you will be deemed to be aware of its contents. By logging on to the VLE, website, provisioned services with Google or School Gateway it is assumed that you agree to this policy.

Scope 
The policy applies to: All users and administrators of the Chesterfield High School VLE and website services that have been issued direct access to the services via a user account and password. On evidence provided by Chesterfield High School, an end user may be subject to censorship or expulsion. At the same time, if a user’s conduct and/or action(s) are illegal and contravene this policy, the user may become personally liable in some circumstances.Chesterfield High School retains the right to revoke access to the VLE and website at anytime.  Use of Website facilities Chesterfield High School expects all users to use the website responsibly and strictly according to the following conditions: Users shall not:  Intentionally interfere with the normal operation of the Website, including the propagation of computer viruses and sustained high volume network traffic (uploading or downloading of large files or sending and receiving of large numbers of small files or any activity that causes bandwidth congestion) that substantially hinders others in their use of the Internet Use the Website for soliciting, representing personal opinions or revealing confidential information or in any other way that could reasonably be considered inappropriate or could damage the reputation of Chesterfield High School Reveal or publicise confidential or proprietary information, which includes but is not limited to: personal information, databases and the information contained therein, computer/network access codes, and business relationships
Monitoring 
Chesterfield High School will monitor and audit the use of the VLE and website to see whether users are complying with the policy. Any potential misuse identified by Chesterfield High School will be logged and investigated individually.  Use of the Virtual Learning Environment  Chesterfield High School acknowledges that users will have a variety of reasons for using the VLE and as such sets out generic guidelines each individual is responsible for the security and use of their Username and Password. Users are not allowed to use the account, username or password of any other user and must not disclose the username or password to anyone else. users should ensure that they do not participate in any activities which do not conform to the Law of England and other Chesterfield High School guidelines and policies regarding the protection of intellectual property and data. Specific emphasis is placed on the downloading, copying and usage of other people’s work, audiovisual files and software without the permission of the owner. all communication generated from within the VLE should be composed appropriately and individuals should ensure that they do not generate anything abusive, defamatory, obscene or otherwise illegal. All users are expected to behave in an appropriate polite and inoffensive manner when using any form of communication. it is strictly forbidden for any user to:corrupt or destroy other users’ data,violate the privacy of other usersdisrupt the work of other usersmisuse any of the VLE resources users should ensure that all features of the VLE are used responsibly and in the event of discovering another user that contravenes this policy, should contact the school immediately.  Liability Chesterfield High School does not guarantee that the Website will be compatible with all or any hardware and software which you may use. Chesterfield High School does not guarantee that the Website will be available all the time or at any specific time and no liability can be accepted in respect of losses or damages arising out of such unavailability.
