Students in Key Stage 3 pupils are taught Art in a carousel structure. Each session lasts for 6 weeks approximately.

Topics covered:

Year 7 –

Topic – “Ocean Pollution”, using Colour Theory, mark making and the artist Jason Scarpace. This leads into a final piece of creation using recycled plastics

Topic – “Identity” – studying graffiti art, advertising Logos / slogans and covering the  artists Banksy and Teesha Moore. Creation of a final piece of work using mixed media.

The current specifications studied within KS 4: BTEC First Award and AQA GCSE.

Year 9 students are taught the formal elements and produce art work linking to the theme ‘Fantasy Creatures’.

For year 10 students the Topics studied for unit 1 include Natural Forms and Homage to an Artist.  Unit 2 is an externally set unit which lasts up to 10 weeks. Students will be asked to create a final piece of artwork at the end of this time which will be completed under examination conditions and last 10 hours

Unit 2: This is an externally set unit which lasts up to 10 weeks. Students will be asked to create a final piece of artwork at the end of this time which will be completed under examination conditions and last 15 hours

Key Stage 3 Art Club

Lunch time Art Club themed around the thought for the day. Revision and coursework clubs are provided by the Art Department to ensure that all pupils fulfill their potential in the subject.
