Athletics success for Lauren, Adam & Renee
Lauren & Adam Byrne (Y10) represented Chesterfield High School/Merseyside Athletics in the North West region combined events 2022 at the weekend.
Adam had started the weekend with an injured and worried about how he was going to complete the competition let alone rank in the competition, in truth he had an amazing weekend regarding his performance. Adam's results were;
Long jump - 5.00m
Discuss - 27.85m (PB)
Javelin 36.30m (PB)
400m 60.6 seconds (PB)
100m hurdles 17.2 seconds (PB)
High jump 1.74m (PB)
Shot 10.59m
1500m in 5.09 minutes
Scoring 3667 points and finishing 5th overall in the competition, and possibly just outside the qualification for the next round, but with everything taken into consideration Adam did himself and the school proud.
Lauren is a very promising athlete, however they were both under strict instructions from Mum & Dad to just enjoy the weekend as they are in their first year in the U17's category and the standard of athletes at this competition is high.
That said she put in an amazing consistent performance, her results were as follows;
Hurdles 12.7sec
High jump 1.56m
Shot 11.23m
200m 27.4
Long jump 4.64
Javelin 29.91
800m 2:41.7
Finishing in fourth place overall with a score of 4181 points and qualifying for the next round of English schools to be held in Bedford in September we are very proud of how she handled herself on the day and the consistent effort that she puts in her performance.
Well done to both of you - amazing achievements!
