Athletics Success

Monday 24th June was the annual division 1 Sefton athletics competition.  It is the top division which sees the best school across the borough compete at Robin park in Wigan. Both the girls and the boys competed in some fantastic track and field events against Sacred Heart, Merchants, Birkdale, Formby, Range, Greenbank, Christ the King and Stanley.

The year 9 girls for the 2nd consecutive year won with a huge points total due to a number of 1st place finishes. This, with a successful year 7 girls’ team, meant the girls finished 3rd overall behind Greenbank and Merchants.

The boys also had some great team and individual performances. The year 7 boys finished 2nd, year 9s 3rd and the year 10s 4th, meaning they finished 6th overall.

1st place pupils on the day were:

Emma Frankland

Lauren Byrne ( in 2 events)

Hannah Williams

Holly Bradshaw

Eleanor James

Penny Page

Jake Batty

Harry Greslow

Joe Kane (in 2 events)

Dermott Armstrong

Adam Bryne ( in 2 events)

Sean Carnforth

Scott MIles

Both teams will remain in division 1 next year. They were an absolute credit to the school and behaved impeccably all day.
