Lessons for both Years 12 and 13 will continue throughout the Summer Term. Students are expected to attend fully and to take advantage of the additional support the school has offered. In addition to this prior to each External Examination a Pre-Exam Revision Session has been organised. The details of this are available on the link below.

On Monday we were delighted to welcome Dr. Raechelle D’Sa, Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Antimicrobial Biomaterials from the School of Engineering at The University of Liverpool. Dr D’Sa delivered a presentation to Year 10 and some of the Year 12 students about her field of expertise. This is part of a new partnership the school has forged with The University of Liverpool.

Led by Professor Tom Solomon, a programme of guest speakers from the University has been planned. It is hoped that students will develop a better understanding of the variety of potential careers in available in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. In turn it is hoped that these opportunities may inspire and assist students in making informed A-Level and degree course choices.

Year 12 student Dan Owen received some fantastic news this week. After auditioning along with 6000 other hopefuls he has successfully secured a place on the National Youth Theatre Summer School. The Summer school enables talented young actors and actresses to work with professional directors and other talented young people from across the UK. Completion of the course also provides membership to the Youth Theatre making Dan eligible to be able to audition for their productions and receive a range of benefits from free tickets to films as well as TV casting. Well done Dan!

All Year 13 have been emailed a copy of when there are Intervention Opportunities available. The majority of this support occurs during the school day and students are encouraged to attend as many as possible.Year 13 Intervention 2019 Download

Once again the school will be open on Saturdays leading up to the external examinations. Years 10, 11 and 13 students are encouraged to come in and use the facilities and resources available to support their preparation. Pupils attending Saturday School should enter the building via the external doors to T4 where they are required to sign in.

Students who have not applied for University have been reminded to seek out the apprenticeship opportunities that are available via the Government’s Website . The school will be supporting these students by organising events and assessment days to them attend.
