KEY STAGE 4 NEWS – 3/5/19

All of the Year 10 and 11 GCSE Examination Timetables have been emailed out to both students and parents. Please familiarize yourselves with this as non-attendance at an External Examination is only authorized with a Doctor’s Note, which then has to be sent to the Examination Body. Any student who fails to attend without this is at risk of being liable for the cost of the examination entry fee. If you have not received your child’s timetable please do not hesitate to contact the relevant Student Support Manager for a copy.

A letter including the timetable of lessons and revision sessions for Year 11 will be sent home to parents and carers next week. The letter also encourages pupils to take advantage of the additional support the school has offered. A copy of this communication is available on the link below.

On Monday we were delighted to welcome Dr. Raechelle D’Sa, Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Antimicrobial Biomaterials from the School of Engineering at The University of Liverpool. Dr D’Sa delivered a presentation to Year 10 and some of the Year 12 students about her field of expertise. This is part of a new partnership the school has forged with The University of Liverpool.

Led by Professor Tom Solomon, a programme of guest speakers from the University has been planned. It is hoped that students will develop a better understanding of the variety of potential careers in available in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. In turn it is hoped that these opportunities may inspire and assist students in making informed A-Level and degree course choices.

Part 3 of the 100 Day Plan was launched this week. This provides students with specific tasks to complete on a daily basis. It is intended that this work will support revision. Further copies of this are available via the link below:

Saturday School is resuming on 27th April from 9.30 pm until 2 pm. Students are to enter the school building via T4 where they are to sign in.

The Year 11 Prom has now been booked and will be taking place on Tuesday 2nd July at Formby Hall. Students are now focused on collecting their stamps for the Passport to the Prom by attending intervention. Next week ALL Intervention (lunchtime and after school) will be worth double!
