Key Stage 4 and 5 Assessment Week

ASSESSMENT WEEK

Well done to Years 12 and 13; both cohorts conducted themselves in a responsible and mature manner during their end of term exams before we broke up.  It is intended that these assessments will allow teachers to identify each student’s personal learning checklist and ascertain where any gaps exist in a student’s learning. Anyone who does not achieve an E grade will be expected to re-sit the paper after half term. For Year 12 this will be held on a Monday morning and Year 13 on a Wednesday afternoon.

The next round of Internal Examinations is the week commencing 17th December for Year 12 and the week beginning the 14th January for Year 13.

Charity Fund Raising

On Tuesday 16th October Year 12 held a cake sale in the mall during break to raise money for young minds. This is a charity that helps young people get the best possible mental health support and have the resilience to overcome life challenges. Overall the students raised £110. Thank you to all who helped to organise the event and equally to those who donated and purchased the cakes.

C3 – DETENTIONS

Students who are recorded as being behind with their work are expected to complete an additional hour at the end of their school day. The same applies to those who are persistently late or who receive a consequence in lessons. It is intended that this will support students in making better decisions and ultimately allow them to secure excellent grades alongside a desirable reference.

INTERNAL EXAMINATIONS

Well done to Years 10 and 11; both cohorts conducted themselves in a responsible and mature manner during the assessment week which end Autmn Term 1. All adhered to the Examination Rules and Conditions and waited patiently and quietly until it was time to dismiss.

It is intended that these assessments will allow teachers to identify each student’s personal learning checklist. In particular, for Year 11 these will help to ascertain the groups for Intervention, especially in English, Mathematics and Science. The student support managers will strive to ensure any student who missed a paper will get the opportunity to complete it at a convenient time.

The next round of Internal Examinations is the week commencing 17th December for Year 10 and the week beginning the 15th January for Year 11.
